Mens Division A

Apollon BC

Apollon Limassol is a sports club, based in Limassol and was established 60 years ago.
At the end of 1953, a team of young men decided to make their dream come true with the establishment of club with cultural, athletic and ethnic targets which would have been elevating the educative and social level of young people of Cyprus and especially of the town of Limassol, especially of the Cypriots to become members and part of this dream.
On the14th of April 1954 a general assembly took place in Limassol with a big number of members and a leading figure being Mr. Christakis Pavlidis who proposed the foundation of an athletic club called "Athletic Musical Group APOLLON LIMASSOL. The assembly approved the proposal and the club "APOLLON was born"!
The team’s emblem represents God Apollo, the ancient Greek god Apollo is a many-talented Greek god of prophecy, music, intellectual pursuits, healing, plague, and sometimes, the sun. He was a powerful god of great strength and prowess, once having fought Heracles on an equal footing. Revengeful and quick to bring disaster and death to those who stood against him, he could be equally compassionate to those who showed him favor. The colors of the team are the medium blue and white.
The Basketball of Apollon was officially founded in 1967 and the Limassol team is among the founding members of the Cyprus Basketball Federation. From then and on the team participates regularly in the championship of the 1st Division. The only titles in the history of the Basketball club are a Cup trophy in 2002 and a Super Cup in 2004.

Team History

The Basketball of Apollon was officially founded in 1967 and the Limassol team is among the founding members of the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Apollon has its own indoor hall, the PrimeTel Apollon Stadium, with capacity of 2,800 seats. PizzaExpress has sponsored Apollon Basketball Team since 2000 and for the last eleven years was among the most important and solid sponsors of the team. From 2012 onwards the new Sponsor is FOREX Time as they have signed a four year's agreement.
The best European tour for the Limassol team took place in the season 2006-2007 where it was eliminated in the semi finals of the EuroCup Challenge Competition, by the then winner team of Samara who beat and eliminated in the finals the team of Keravnos Strovolou.
Apollon is among the few teams who has a solid academy which every single year produces talents of all ages and all positions, it's not coincidence that most players currently playing in the Second division and situated either in Limassol or in Paphos do come from the Apollon Limassol academies.
Last but not least, the team has given all these years many players to the national team of Cyprus (and still does so) with latest players being the following: Grigoris Pantouris, Iraklis Pittakas, Alexis Liatsos and many more.
