Mens Division B

Ydra Asfalistiki E.N.A.D.

ENAD (Enosis Neon Agiou Dometiou, Union of Youth of Agios Dometios), is a first division basketball team based in the Agios Dometios district which is a suburb located west of the capital Nicosia, Cyprus. Following the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, 4/5 of Agios Dometios is under Turkish military control with the Green Line passing through the town.
The historic figures of the basketball team of ENAD consider the following players (both Local and foreigners):
The American guard (with Maltese passport) Don Ross who have been transfered to the Cyprus league from another island, the isle of Malta (his wife is Maltese) where in the Maltese Basketball league he was the “king of the league” and the MVP for five consecutive seasons. Ross landed to the Cyprus league simply to write history by winning the Cyprus championship in his first season in Cyprus, he played another one year with the jersey of APOEL
Then Greek veteran power forward Giannis Kanakakis (194-PF-49) an ex player of PAOK Thessalonikis (1967-1976), AEK Athens (1976-1982), and for many seasons in the second division, who join the team of Aghios Dometios at the age of 41! and was a vital member in the route of  the championship of 1990 but he the awkward element was that he was staying in Athens most of the time!!
The Cypriot Christos Stylianidis (currently the Head Coach of the Cyprus National Team) Christos was given the nickname the Cypriot Galis because his amazing way of playign basketball beign a point guard and scoring from allover plus the fact that he was winner and is the first ever Cypriot player who won champions with three different teams (ENAD, Keravnos Strovolou and APOEL Nicosia) has the Midas touch as wherever he goes his team wins the trophy,
The Cypriot trio back in 90's Doloros Kapartis, Giorgos Pastellis and Giorgos Hatziathanasiou
The American power forward center Tate who was missing three fingers from his left hand but he was still able to block his opponents
The Cyprus international and for many years captain of the National Team Giorgos Anastasiadis currently a player for ETHA Engomis the cup holder and another winner as wherever he went Giorgos won the league, either as a player of Keravnos Strovolou (he left ENAD at a very young age), or as a player of APOEL or as a player of ETHA Engomis as he is right now.
The American center Kenny Whitehead in his first career stop in Cyprus in 2004-2005 as he joined the team three years afterwards with not so good memories for the Aghios Dometios team.
One of the worst seasons ever for the team of ENAD was the season 2012-2013 as the team ended up in a position over the last but due to the great financial issues the team forced to join the second division for the first time in its history. Since the season 2013-2014 the team of Agios Dhometios against all odds and against its history is participating in the Division B ' League with quite medium seasons and without a real target for coming back to the A' Division as there is a great financial issue too..

Team History

ENAD (Enosis Neon Agiou Dometiou, Union of Youth of Agios Dometios), is a first division basketball team based in the Agios Dometios district which is a suburb located west of the capital Nicosia, Cyprus. Following the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, 4/5 of Agios Dometios is under Turkish military control with the Green Line passing through the town.
The Turkish invasion brought an economic decline, and many residents of the Nicosia suburb abandoned their homes due to fear of the invaders. Expansion halted up until 1986 when the municipality of Agios Dometios was founded. An organized plan to revive the town began, and up to now, new buildings, parks and roads are still being built while the population of Agios Dometios has been rapidly growing. Today Agios Dometios is a modern European town.
ENAD was founded in 1937 via the merger of three local sports clubs. Over the years, it has run basketball, football, table tennis and volleyball divisions. However the club is best known for its basketball team which has won 2 championship titles and 1 national cup. It competes in the top basketball division of Cyprus since its very beggining.
The two Cyprus championship titles were won the years1969 and the year 1990 whiles the one and only Cyprus cup was won in the year 1987. While the team also used to maintain a football team and a volleyball team, ENAD decided to focus on basketball so they suspended all other activities. During the basketball season 2005-2006 the team of Agios Dometios finished second in the regular season, in their best run in the last ten years, but were eliminated by the reigning champions AEL Limassol in the semi-finals. Marios Argyrou took over before the 2008-09 season as head coach of the team and returned prior to the season 2010-2011, after winning the title as assistant coach at APOEL Nicosia a year before.
The teams' club house is located on Gregoris Afxentiou Avenue.
