Mens Division A

ETHA Engomis

ETHA Engomis a club which is situated in the centre-north of the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia and is actually in a town which is devided since 1974 and the Turkish occupation, from the foundation of Cyprus Basketball Association participates in the championships of both men and women.  The club cultivates in-depth basketball maintaining academies of boys and girls since its birth (1942).
Since 1979 the team of Etha Engomis participates in the first division league. Etha's participation in the A league was impressive in the season 1990-1991 when with the American power forward / center Isaac Tare and the newly arrived Dragan Raca the today's Head Coach of the Chinese Guangzhou FM and among the most successful coaches in the island, together with the English Cypriot Pluto Vourliotis, they manage to win all the games in the second round and ended undefeated in an amazing 12-0 record. Unfortunately for them their first round was not so successful so they couldn't run for the title but the two out of the three players, Vourliotis and Raca remain in the island where they continue their career untill the recent years.
During the season 2009-2010 the team from Engomi ended the regular season in the amazing third position after beating the team of Keravnos and winning all their other opponents, in the semifinals Tony Konstantinidis team lost by the champion team of Apoel with a  3-1 in their in between games.
Their best ever historical moment took place in November, 2010 a memorable month for the Cypriot Basketball and particularly for InterCollege Etha Engomis that overcame the German test, knocking out the Artland Dragons and reaching the EuroChallenge regular season, for the first time in the team’s history.
In a heart breaking game, the 6’9” power forward/center Anthony King had an excellent performance, delivering 18 points and catching 10 rebounds. Anthony joined Etha last season, where he brought the team to the Cypriot semifinals, being also named Forward of the year.
With its victory Etha advanced to the 7th group of the EuroChallenge where it will meet against Apoel, Zantar (Croatia) and the Turkish Pinar. The Cyprus club added another victory at the end of November when they beat the Croatian Zadar.
The next great moment was no other than the Cyprus Cup won, the first ever trophy for the club of Engomi, in March 2011 by beating the team of AEL Limassol in the final 79-52.
The seasons 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, the team from Engomis won its very first two champions under the coaching of Tonys Konstantinidis breaking in both seasons the home advantage of APOEL and Keravnos in the Semi Finals (2011)  and the Finalss (2012)
While in the seazon 2014-2015 with the coaching of the rookie head coach Christoforos Leivadiotis (now a Head Coach in Keravnos Strovolou) won the Cyprus Cup having a budget at least half of most of the other teams in the Cyprus league..
ETHA has a tradition with the very good American players with very good profiles played for the Engomis team and most of the times teams such as Keravnos Strovolou are "grapping" these players at the end of each season some of them are successful and some others not so successful. The best American player ever joined forces with Etha is no other than the current power forward/center Anthony King. Anthony King was the MVP in most of the crucial games the last two seasons and Coach Konstantinidis is building each and every strategy in the various games based on the American star.
Since July 2012 the team of Etha will no longer be Intercollege as the main sponsor of the team has changed into the multinational tires company Michelin, so the new name is Michelin Etha Engomis.

Team History

Club “ETHA” emanated from the merge of Engomi’s clubs “Thiella” and “Anagennisis”.

Club “Anagennisis” pre-existed “Thiellas” and it appears that it was founded in the beginning of decade 1920, whereas “Thiella” was founded later at the decade 1930 from the young persons of that season.

Between years 1942 - 1946 various consultations took place between the two clubs for their merge, various names as “ENGOMI” were mentioned, where finally led to the merging of the two clubs in 1946 with the name “ETHA Engomi”.

Rich and variform was ETHA’s contribution so much in the National fights what so ever in the cultural and athletic sector. “ETHA” was one of the founding associations of “APOESP” in the championships of which the football team rose from the rank enough times as champion and cup winner, participating in deed and in the championship of Category D’ of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA).

At the same time, “ETHA” from the foundation of Cyprus Basketball Association participates in the championships of both men and women.

Our club cultivates in-depth basketball maintaining academies of boys and girls.

Also “ETHA” participates with important success in the championships of Cyprus Table Tennis Association while its athletes staff the corresponding National teams.

The colours of our club are Yellow and Black.
