After a small break from the basketball news, the site is coming back stronger than ever with new tactics and new enthusiasm.

So the first article is basically a general analysis on the new league which could be a bit bigger than last season's tiny league with just six teams, as APOP from Paphos, and AEL from Limassol could join the league and could give a new taste, we will know very soon..

At the same time we have some serious Greek Head Coaches coming all over the island with Giorgos Bitzanis taking over ETHA Engomis, Dimitris Koukouris taking over the head coaching position from Gavriel, with an assistant Coach the Cyprus Basketball totem and veteran player Jo-Jo Garcia at his first official attempt as an assistant Coach, while the ex international player and Coach Giannis Gakis is taking over the team of Atlantas in the B’ Division league, while the most successful Cyprus Head Coach Antonis Konstantinides who replaced last season the Greek Koustenis, is remaining in APOEL, trying to build up the roster (from scratch) brining over some Cyprus power from abroad…

So this week will analyze the top three teams of last season’s league, the champion team of Keravnos Strovolou,. The cup winner AEK Larnakas and the third team of the league APOEL Nicosia

So After an awesome season for Coach Livadiotis, the Strovolos team did some very solid transfers and even though lost one of its key elements since the Cyprus International forward Stylianou will no longer be a part of Keravnos and even though the two teams initially agreed terms, they finally split up and Stylianou will follow his dream as he might join forces with the ex Emperor of the Greek Basketball, Aris Thessalonikis, a team where his dad made his career before coming back to the island. None the less, Keravnos added some real experience as the naturalized international power forward/center Anthony King is coming back to the Cyprus league after 6 consecutive seasons where he played five of them in the German league and one in the Turkish league. Anthony is adding power and the chance to assist the Strovolos team in the difficult Champions league as the Cyprus champions are returning in the European courts after a long break. Other than that, Coach Livadiotis lost O’ Brien who joined forces in the Greek league with A1 Kymis but instead the champions sign up one of the top performers of last season’s competition with ex APOEL guard Tre Bussey becoming a member of Keravnos. Coach Livadiotis followed last season’s successful recipe and kept most of his players. The veteran point guard Ronald Ross has been replaced by Cyprus International point guard Aristides Koronides, Last but not least, Coach Livadiotis added some Cyprus staff, as the Cyprus International Power Forward, Christos Loizides joined forces with the champions. The team added some crucial assistance in the guard positions as the experienced Cade Davis also for the tough games of the Champions League.

The finalist of the Cyprus League  and Cup winner, AEK Larnakas with new coaching team and a totally new roster (with some exceptions) will play without the awesome seven footer Primoz Brezec who retired (he has been hired by Cleveland Cavaliers as an international scout, could be tasked with scouting fellow Slovenian Luka Doncic. The 18-year-old Real Madrid wing is considered the top international talent and a top-five prospect overall in the 2018 draft. In any case, AEK kept the Tomislav Petrovic who was among the stand outs last season while Coach Koukouris brought back to the team the Cyprus international Roberto Mantovani, while in the new additions are the power forward Devin Searcy, and the Serbian Danilo Tasic, the American super scorer Shane Gibson ex Beroe player, while the American with Cyprus passport Tyrel Biggs will remain in the team together with the veteran Trisokas, Sizopoulos and Iakovos Panteli.. It is expected for at least another two players from the States to be added in the next few weeks

The team of Coach Constantinides, APOEL Nicosia has invested this season to the local element and even though they Pantouris left, a bunch of young and talented players have been hired, so captain Vasilis Kounas will be surrounded this season by the ex Keravnos player coming from USA, Ieronymides, the ex player of Keravnos veteran Andreas Pilavas, the young and talented power forward Christos Karapatakis, while an upgraded role is expected to have the members f the Cyprus U18 NT, Michalis Mythillos and Zavos, Kantartzis, and Haridimou.. Other than that, APOEL agreed with the American center Demontre Harris who join in from the difficult Turkish league where with Burs’a jersey had some solid stats with 12 points, 7.6 rebounds and one assist. The team is expected to hire another five foreigners in the weeks to come…
